Sarah Irene 02:34
Sarah Irene Music & Lyrics by Ryan Hommel I got the best things to say about a girl I’ve been seeing Letting her inside is giving life new meaning I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene Wouldn’t trade her for another, if she asked I wouldn’t smother She’s got an older brother and a doppleganer mother I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene I can always tell she loves me too She takes me out, she pulls me through I would never leave or be untrue Sarah Irene, you came on cue She was walking me slow like a movie scene She kicked a rock and watched it roll like the credits on a screen It’s not as much like a movie as it is like a dream Where I wake up to a kiss from Sarah Irene I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Irene

Nobody Else 04:26
Nobody Else Music & Lyrics by Ryan Hommel Hot summer night, pouring rain I told you I love you the first time Now I’m finding myself in so much pain Because you’re going away for a long time It’s 4am, I’m writing again The pencil starts to shake The hour strikes like my greatest fear: You’ll be gone when I am awake How do I deal with myself when you love me like nobody else can I’m beginning to taste the weight of the space as it rolls down from my eye Go for a while but baby don’t say goodbye Cold winter day, you were talking about Texas Moving our lives into sunshine Now you’re wondering how you could do without your space I know the meaning of that line Baby, I’ll give you just what you need Even if it’s walking away But I refuse to live as a man defeated By the battle of go or stay How do I deal with myself when you love me like nobody else can I’m beginning to taste the weight of the space as it rolls down from my eye Go for a while but baby don’t say goodbye I know the consolation will only delay the pain But confrontation will only create the same How do I deal with myself when you love me like nobody else can I’m beginning to taste the weight of the space as it rolls down from my eye Go for a while but baby don’t say goodbye

Same Somehow 04:19
Same Somehow Music & Lyrics by Ryan Hommel You left me lying on the bathroom floor You broke my heart, you slammed the door You don’t have it You don’t have it anymore The tears flow easily down the drain Why can’t the fear, why can’t the pain? I should be happy So much happier alone But I, I need you closer You were never close enough Before you ran, you’re always running But you can never run far enough You don’t think about me now But I still feel the same, somehow The halls still echo with the sound of you I listen for a shred of proof That you don’t love me If you don’t love me anymore There’s still a part of you that won’t let go Of all the times you felt yes but answered no And the guilt that must come with Always letting go But I, I need you closer You were never close enough Before you ran, you’re always running But you can never run far enough You don’t think about me now But I still feel the same, somehow You left me lying on the bathroom floor You broke my heart, you slammed the door

Krista 04:05
Krista Music & Lyrics by Ryan Hommel Memphis by way of Boston So glad I met you there And you stuck out like a sore thumb, sugar plum Half a dozen feet tall With your ginger-red hair Running into you at a quarter to two Was the best thing I could not plan to do Krista can I kiss ya On the swingset in the mist You always pout and say you gotta go Hop into the right side Of my sporty rental-ride And we can drive until you say we’re home Krista, you can go But don’t go alone Walking through city square I saw you at the Rendezvous Caught a glimpse of us in the mirror, what a pretty pair My heart can’t handle Your skin so fair Dreaming everyday since we parted ways Of the things I’d do and just what I’d say Krista can I kiss ya On the swingset in the mist You always pout and say you gotta go Hop into the right side Of my sporty rental-ride And we can drive until you say we’re home Krista, you can go But don’t go alone Life’s too short To be sleeping on a thing like this Krista, give me a call If after all, it’s me you miss Krista can I kiss ya On the swingset in the mist You always pout and say you gotta go Hop into the right side Of my sporty rental-ride And we can drive until you say we’re home Krista, time will show And time might move real slow Krista, you can do But don’t go alone

Beautiful World Music & Lyrics by Ryan Hommel Betty Sue, God help you You’re in an awful way, all work and no play For every fear, you hold back a tear But if you could rewind, what would you leave behind Would you ever stop to look Take the time you never took We’re in a beautiful world We’re in a broken world Where you can’t choose what you see And you can choose who you want to be Sunday you pray, you make it all okay Talk to God about your week, cause he’s the only one who let’s you speak You hold on to so much pride, even to pray is just to hide When you break you’ll feel more whole When you give up you’ll find your soul We’re in a beautiful world We’re in a broken world Where you can’t choose what you see And you can choose who you want to be We’re in a broke world Where you can’t choose what you see We’re in a beautiful world We’re in a broken world We’re in a beautiful world We’re in a broken world We’re in a beautiful world We’re in a broken world We’re in a beautiful world We’re in a broken world

about

This is the first ever release from Ryan Hommel, his self-titled EP. Originally slated to be a full-length release, the project was left untouched for long periods of time while Ryan was on tour. The effect of which was a shifting and shrinking vision for the record. Eventually, Ryan decided to re-track many parts of this record (including the entirety of the song "Same Somehow" and many of the vocals) from his moms basement using minimal equipment. He then mixed the record on headphones from the road, often gaining advice from tour mate and long time friend Seth Glier, before sending it to Gene Paul at G&J for mastering and eventually releasing the record himself in April of 2013, celebrating with his first ever headlining show at The Parlor Room in his hometown of Northampton, MA.
